HRC Scholar, Judge Qazizada, profiled in law school feature

Judge Basira Qazizada, a participant in HRC's Supporting Afghan Scholars At Risk program, was profiled by Andrew Cohen at the UC Berkeley School of Law. The scholars program, a joint initiative between the Human Rights Center, San Jose State University’s Human Rights Institute, and the UC Berkeley Afghan Student Association has brought nine Afghan scholars to the Bay Area who fled Afghanistan a year ago after the Taliban regained power. 

"In class, some of my peers would say a girl couldn’t be a member of parliament, or a judge, or in a powerful position," said Judge Qazizada. "I disagreed.” Read the whlole piece here.
