Annie Canizares Chávez

Annie J. Canizares Chávez is the Administrative Associate at the Berkeley Human Rights Center. Annie was born and raised in Bolivia, the heart of South America, and through volunteering throughout North, Central, and South America she was able to see that basic human rights violations are a constant struggle on the entire continent for many poor marginalized communities. Annie wants to continue building a nurturing space at the Human Rights Center so her colleagues and the students can continue performing great work. Outside of work, Annie loves sewing, gardening, hiking, practicing biodanza, drinking mate, and building political movements for radical social change.
