Katherine Young

Bio

Katherine Young is the Director of Development at the Human Rights Center. She is excited to share the Center’s work with new audiences and connect people with ways to support human rights projects. Previously, she led the fundraising team at Dream.Org, a national social justice nonprofit. Under her leadership, the organization earned multiyear contracts from funders including the Stupski Foundation, American Forests, and Just Trust; scaled individual donor programs using multi-channel campaigns; and received its first federally awarded contract. Katherine has always been driven to promote progressive economic policies and social justice. In her previous positions, she provided supportive services for the international student population of EF San Diego, fundraised for life skills and culinary arts training for New Orleans’ at-risk youth with Cafe Reconcile, and supported the delivery of financial literacy programs for underserved students with Junior Achievement. She then spent four years at EMC Research conducting quantitative and qualitative public opinion projects, securing millions of dollars for publicly funded education, infrastructure, and transit, and helping Democratic candidates get elected. She speaks fluent French and has a M.A. in International Relations and B.A. in Political Science from UC San Diego.
