Bio

Peyten Maxwell Sharp is a Public Interest Fellow at the Human Rights Center and a Research Supervisor in HRC’s Investigations Lab. He studies transnational corporate governance, business and human rights, and enterprise risk management, with an emphasis on how legal and regulatory frameworks shape risk management and humanity. He conducts research on water stewardship in Mexico and, alongside HRC staff, partners, and students, examines the regulatory dynamics and mitigation strategies of data center development in California. Peyten also advocates for LGBTQ+ rights through constitutional, criminal, and consumer law, for which he has worked with organizations such as the American Civil Liberties Union and The Trevor Project. Peyten holds a J.D. from Berkeley Law and a B.A. from Harvard College, where he concentrated in Psychology with secondary studies in Economics. As a law student, he served on the boards of several academic journals, founded an LGBTQ+ legal advocacy clinic, participated in the International Human Rights Workshop, spent his summers at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, and received Pro Bono Honors with Highest Distinction and certificates of specialization in Human Rights & Social Justice, International Law, and Law & Technology.
