Launch of Pilot Version of the Murad Code Open-Source Practitioner’s Guide to the Murad Code

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of the pilot version of the Open-Source Practitioner’s Guide, developed with Institute for International Criminal Investigations.

Designed for practitioners who search for or use digital open-source information and may intentionally or unintentionally handle information related to systematic and conflict-related sexual violence (SCRSV) during online inquiries or investigations, this Guide helps practitioners to make informed and ethical decisions when handling information about SCRSV in their work.

We invite all open-source practitioners to explore the Guide and share feedback on its content and application by June 30, 2025. The final version will be published later this year.

🔍 Key Features of the Guide:

  • Translates principles and minimum standards from the Murad Code into standards and practices for open-source practitioners to apply.
  • Considers the ethical implications of using open-source information.
  • Offers practical guidance on action practitioners can take to safeguard survivors and communities, and to effectively research information about SCRSV.
