Maggie Andresen (she/her) is the Human Rights Center's Communications Specialist. She is also a freelance photojournalist and reporter interested in the intersection of human rights. society, climate, gender, and justice. Andresen has investigated the arbitrary detention of transgender women in Rwandan transit centers, the continuing impact of oil spills in the Niger Delta, the forced eviction of informal coastal communities in Lagos, and more. She has been published in The Guardian, VICE World News, Undark Magazine, The Lily / Washington Post, Reuters, and The Telegraph, among others. Andresen is an alumna of the Eddie Adams Workshop, a fellow of the International Women’s Media Foundation, and an alumna of the U.S. Fulbright Program. She worked for two years as a Digital Media Associate with Too Young to Wed, a nonprofit focused on ending child marriage and amplifying the voices of girls around the world. Prior to her appointment, she was living and working in Lagos, Nigeria. Andresen holds a Bachelor's in journalism from Temple University.
