For Press: UC Berkeley Human Rights Center Providing Expertise on Syria

Media Advisory

On Sunday, December 8, Syria’s capital city of Damascus was liberated by multiple opposition groups led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), ending the rule of President Bashar al-Assad. The liberation of Damascus came after a major offensive was launched against pro-government forces on November 27, and ended 53 years of al-Assad family rule.

The UC Berkeley Human Rights Center (HRC) has a number of subject experts with experience related to Syria, who are available to speak with members of the media as requested. For all inquiries, please reach out to Maggie Andresen [mandresen@berkeley.edu] [+1 845 608 4997].
